Erinvale, nestled at the foothills of the
Helderberg and Hottentot Holland Mountains in Somerset West, is
situated approximately 60 km from the Cape Town City Bowl. Designed by
Gary Player and the venue of the 1996 World Cup of Golf as well as the
2003 and 2004 South African Open, Erinvale boasts some of the countries
most challenging and spectacular golf holes. While the front 9 has been
built on flat land, the back nine traverses the slopes of the majestic
Helderberg and provides a breathtaking view over towards False Bay.
Erinvale is characterized by a wonderful selection of testing par 4
holes with bent grass greens and deep bunkering. There are no caddies
at the course.
Proceed along the N2 from Cape Town and take the Somerset-West off-ramp
turning left towards Somerset West and at the traffic lights turn
right. At the third set of lights turn left into Lourensford Road and
continue straight. Estate entrance on left.
Personal note from Ashley:
Great course but advisable to take a drive cart. Closed for periods of
time during season due to estate residents controlling play. The estate
has a well stocked shop with quality golf clubs for hire. Erinvale
achieved a SA ranking of 19 in 2010.
